Gallery Guide, contract

Pérez Art Museum Miami is seeking a Gallery Guide to lead public and special request tours, concentrating on selected exhibitions and the architecture of the museum with the goal of helping visitors gain insights into modern and contemporary art. The Guide will receive training and materials on the building and the work on view but must also have the initiative and ability to study and prepare independently.  The guide is expected to be both accurate and engaging in his/her presentation. 

Tours will be 45-60 minutes in length.  The Guide will conduct private group tours during daytime and evening hours as scheduled by advance request, typically two weeks.  Occasionally the Guide may be asked to conduct a regularly scheduled walk-in public tour.  Availability to tour on a flexible schedule is critical.  

Gallery Guide will be paid per tour at a flat rate based on experience. This is a three-month renewable position.  


  • Applicants should have a degree in the visual arts (art history or fine arts) and be conversant with modern and contemporary art  
  • They must exhibit excellent communication skills
  • Tour or teaching experience highly desirable
  • Spanish/ Portuguese speaking ability is a plus
