PAMM Director Franklin Sirmans to Speak at CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges

Sirmans to Discuss Community Building with Arts and Culture

WHAT: On October 24, 2016, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Director Franklin Sirmans will participate in the Fourth Annual CityLab, a summit on the ideas and solutions transforming metro centers around the world. Sirmans will join a panel, with Devon Akmon of Arab American National Museum and Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson of The Good Chance Theatre, to discuss building communities through arts and culture.

Sirmans will share strategies for how to use art as a lever for cross-cultural dialogue. In this session, inspiring anecdotes and clear cut strategic advice will be shared with a common goal of helping participants to reflect on how art connects us, highlighting our common humanity.

CityLab convenes the world’s most creative mayors and city practitioners along with artists, academics, funders, and other public and private sector leaders focused on improving cities and identifying and sharing effective urban solutions. Presented just two weeks before America elects its next president, CityLab 2016 will provide an especially unique vantage point: the opportunity to candidly collaborate on the most pressing issues facing the world’s growing metros. The event will take place at the InterContinental Miami, October 23-25, 2016, with events and field trips to several neighborhoods and locations throughout the city.

WHEN: Monday, October 24, 12:45-1:45pm

WHERE: InterContinental downtown Miami, Balmoral Room on Mezzanine floor/2nd floor
100 Chopin Plaza, Miami, FL 33131
