Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander gave a talk on the evening of September 5 at the alternative art space Alice Yard, in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Titled “Curating and Context,” Ostrander discussed his curatorial practice and the new programs he is developing for the museum, which include interests in developing collaborations with institutions in the Caribbean.
Alice Yard is an art and discussion space that has existed since 2006. A dynamic collaboration between artist Christopher Cozier, architect Sean Leonard, and Editor Nicholas Laughlin, Alice Yard presents exhibitions, performances, music events and discussions throughout the year, as well as offering residencies to artists, curators and writers. Ostrander’s visit was part of his research on art in Trinidad and involved studio visits with artists, visits to galleries and informal meetings with additional cultural producers.
