The Port: Support PAMM on Give Miami Day

Give Miami Day (November 20, 2013) is a unique, 24-hour online giving event that allows individuals in our community an opportunity to build a greater Miami by making a charitable gift to a local nonprofit. For Give Miami Day, Pérez Art Museum Miami seeks your support as it opens its doors in a new Herzog & de Meuron-designed facility in Museum Park.

Pérez Art Museum Miami seeks your support to help underwrite its free Community Days during the Museum’s opening week. Throughout December 4-8, PAMM will offer free admission for Miami-Dade residents to celebrate its opening and to ensure that all South Floridians can enjoy its inaugural season of exhibitions. The Museum greatly appreciates the generous support of Miami-Dade residents in funding the new building, and is proud to offer its neighbors a free preview of the spectacular new facility. Ensuring access to enriching contemporary art for the community is at the heart of the Museum’s mission.

Pérez Art Museum Miami’s opening coincides with Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami Beach, and will draw thousands of local and international visitors to the Museum. The inaugural special exhibition Ai Weiwei: According to What? will be on view, along with a focused exhibition on the work of Cuban painter Amelia Peláez, thematic presentations of the Museum’s permanent collection and group exhibitions on the exchange of ideas between the Caribbean basin, Europe and North Africa. For many visitors, PAMM will represent their only access point to significant traveling exhibitions, artist commissions designed specifically for the opening by emerging artists from around the world and important works from the Museum’s growing permanent collection.
