M. Thérèse (“Terry”) Vento, Pérez Art Museum Miami’s general counsel, was named the top in-house legal counsel at the Dade County Bar Association’s 2017 Legal Luminaries Award Ceremony on July 26, 2017.

“Doing what I love at the special place which is Pérez Art Museum Miami is reward in itself, but I especially appreciate this recognition from my legal colleagues, and thank them immensely,” Vento said.

Each year, the Dade County Bar Association selects approximately three finalists in each category of law practice based on nominations received, and members in good standing with the Florida Bar are invited to vote. Winners in each category are determined based upon the number of valid votes received. This is the largest award recognition of its kind in Florida, with peers recognizing individuals for excellence in their legal practice.

With 33 categories of practice, the event was a who’s who of the South Florida legal community.  Honorees, uncluding Vento, were peer nominated & selected.  This year's event had a record 87,000 nomination fields.

Vento is the first in-house general counsel for the museum, having joined the staff in 2015 after decades of providing pro bono legal advice to the museum while also practicing at Shutts & Bowen, LLP and Gallwey Gillman Curtis Vento & Horn, PA.
