Pérez Art Museum Miami was selected from over 170 applicants to present a case study on Art Detectives, an innovative arts-based learning experience, that brings together South Florida law enforcement and youth from under-served communities, sparking creative thinking and cross-community dialogue around one of our country’s most divisive issues: police interactions with young people of color.

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) announced today that Ade Omotosho has been awarded the museum’s first Ford Foundation Curatorial Fellowship.
PAMM is proud to announce it is the recipient of an award from all three federal arts and culture agencies for its community outreach program, Brick x Brick . 17-year-old Brick x Brick student Balthazar Cordova attended the award ceremony in DC today to accept the award on PAMM’s behalf.
The program was recognized for its effectiveness in promoting learning and life skills in young people by engaging them through creative youth development programs. The after-school program received the 2017 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, the nation’s highest honor for these programs.
On October 19, 2017, an intimate group of guests enjoyed a starlit, private dinner hosted by designer John Varvatos on Pérez Art Museum Miami’s breath-taking third floor terraces. The dinner was held in recognition of PAMM’s exhibition Haroon Mirza: A C I D G E S T, a commissioned work that brings together audiovisual materials, electronic equipment, amplifiers, and found objects to create immersive environments and kinetic sculptures. The exhibition has been generously underwritten by John Varvatos and his company.
