This winter, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will launch PAMM Inside|Out, a program funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which brings high-quality reproductions of art from PAMM’s permanent collection to outdoor venues. The nine-month program will kick off in the Miami-Dade County communities of Hialeah, Homestead and West End with a calendar of related events and programs, including a community weekend at the museum on Labor Day weekend, September 3-5, 2016.
On February 3, 2016, a group from City of Hialeah Adult Centers experienced an afternoon of artful fun in Hialeah Park as part of PAMM Inside|Out.
PAMM welcomed the sons and daughters’ of staff members as they took part in take your child to work day. Members of the education department shared as much enthusiasm as the kids; touring through the galleries as well as getting a behind the scenes look at where PAMM houses its permanent collection. Followed by lunch, the youths of the PAMMily displayed their creativity and self-expression in an art-making session of merging mediums.
Celebrating the exhibition Bloodlines, authors Roxane Gay and Jeff Chang read recent essays and discussed ideas of race, gender and social histories that influenced the work of Firelei Báez. Both Gay and Chang have written extensively on American culture, politics and the arts.
