On Thursday, September 15, 2016, guests came out to Pérez Art Museum Miami to enjoy the monthly Third Thursday: Poplife Social. This month, School of Rock had the crowd dancing to their covers of classic rock songs. PAMM members joined in the Third Thursday Lounge for complimentary drinks provided by Beck’s Urban Canvas. Guests also enjoyed happy hour drink specials and participated in art-making on the terrace inspired by Andy Warhol.
On September 10, 2016 families flocked to Pérez Art Museum Miami for a day of free admission and family fun. On the terrace, guests created art inspired by the mixed-media artwork of Robert Rauschenberg and Basquiat, whose exhibitions are currently on view at PAMM. Local printmakers set up several pop-up stations where guests printed their favorite patterns using different printmaking techniques. The event was included as part of Miami’s DWNTOWN Art Days.
Over 400 language-based works purchased with support of John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
On September 3, 2016, PAMM celebrated the close of Inside|Out’s inaugural year with a Community Weekend Celebration. The musical duo Peanuty Butter and Jelly entertained with a live performance, while participants enjoyed the day’s art-making activities. Guests were treated to a tour of the Inside|Out artworks that are currently on view as part of PAMM’s permanent collection.
This year, the museum launched PAMM Inside|Out, a program funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which brings high-quality reproductions of art from PAMM’s permanent collection to the community. The program kicked off in the Miami-Dade County communities of Hialeah, Homestead and West End. Residents of these communities received free admission to PAMM on Labor Day Weekend.
