On Saturday, May 14, 2016, families flocked to Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) for a day of free admission and family fun. Visitors gathered on the bayfront terrace and created sculptures using colors and shapes in bold new ways. Inspired by PAMM exhibition artist Matthew Ronay's work, on view through January 15, 2017, guests explored the psychedelic side of contemporary art through their own creations.
In conjunction with the opening of her PAMM exhibition, How I Caught a Swallow in Midair, artist Michele Oka Doner discussed her work with Brooklyn-based writer Rebekah Rutkoff. Oka Doner and Rutkoff discussed the exhibition’s presentation of functional designs, works on paper and ceramics inspired by natural forms.
On Thursday, May 5, 2016, hundreds of bicyclists raced to Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) for Cycle de Mayo, a celebration kicking off National Bike Month and the museum’s new initiative, which offers free admission to all who arrive to PAMM by bike throughout the month of May.
