Create gorgeous textures, colors and patterns inspired by the fabrics and fibers in AMERICANA: Formalizing Craft, on view in the second floor galleries.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to make their own woven fabric tapestry, runner or table mat. A simple weaving process on a rigid heddle loom will be explored as a method for designing and weaving fiber art. This workshop is taught by artist Pamela Palma.
Pamela’s fiber art and textile designs are defined by her signature styles, notably her extensive use of vibrant, textural yarns which she dyes, as well as her use of shredded one-hundred-dollar bills, applied as social commentary to her work. Pamela is currently a resident artist at the Bakehouse Art Complex in the City of Miami.
