Inspired by Victoria Gitman's exhibition, Desiring Eye, participants will explore the concepts of observation and personal connection through focused drawing. Bring a cherished personal item and black-and-white photograph to connect with and draw.
Inspired by the Victoria Gitman's exhibition, Desiring Eye, artist, Fullbright US Scholar and Oscar B. Cintas Fellow, Maria Lino, will facilitate a workshop exploring the concepts of observation and personal connection through focused drawing. Participants will discuss formal considerations of the line work found in figure paintings, as well as the brushstrokes representing beads, pearls, stitches, and more, reflected in Gitman's accessory paintings. This workshop is ultimately an exercise in detailed observation and rendition of personal items through focused concentration, dedication and personal connection. Participants will work on detailed drawings and will need to bring a personal item and/or black and white family photograph.
