Calendar: Memorial Day BBQ

Event Description

PAMM will open on Monday, May 25, 2015, for a special Memorial Day celebration. On the museum’s Biscayne Bay-front terrace, enjoy an outdoor BBQ with beer and wine specials and live music by indie bluegrass group “The Wynwoods.” Inside the iconic museum, explore exhibitions by Nicolas Lobo, Iman Issa, Eugenio Espinoza and more with a gallery scavenger hunt for prizes.

The lively daytime event will kick off PAMM’s participation in Blue Star Museums, a national program that honors service men and women with complimentary museum admission for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The museum will also open on Labor Day, Monday, September 7, for a special public event to mark the program’s close.  The national summer initiative compliments PAMM’s year-round policy extending free admission to U.S. military with identification.

PAMM’s Memorial Day celebration is open to the public, and general museum admission rates apply ($16 adults). Admission is free for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families. Those who arrive by Metromover will also receive free admission. BBQ specials and beer and wine are available for purchase. The Memorial Day celebration, live entertainment and outdoor BBQ will run from 1-4pm, and galleries will open from 10am-6pm. Arrival by free Miami-Dade Metromover is recommended for special events due to increased expected visitation.
