In celebration of the upcoming exhibition at PAMM, Michele Oka Doner will be signing copies of her newest publications, How I Caught a Swallow in Midair and Into the Mysterium. Both titles will be available for purchase at the PAMM Shop on a first come first serve basis. Only titles purchased on-site are eligible for signing. Museum admission required.
Michele Oka Doner is an internationally renowned artist whose career spans five decades. Born and raised in Miami Beach, Oka Doner's work is fueled by a lifelong study and appreciation of the natural world, from which she derives her formal vocabulary. She is best known for creating A Walk on the Beach (1995-2010), her iconic, mile long, bronze-in-terrazzo concourse at Miami International Airport, seen by 25,000,000 travelers a year. The full breadth of her artistic production encompasses public art, sculpture, furniture, jewelry, functional objects, video, and costume and set design. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Musée des Arts Décoratifs (the Louvre), Victoria and Albert Museum, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, as well as the University of Michigan, Yale and Princeton University art museums, among many others. She lives and works in New York City, while maintaining a consistent presence in Miami.
