Educator Professional Development

PAMM offers FREE educator workshops occur throughout the academic year teaching strategies that encourage critical thinking and arts-integration for  K-12 teachers of all subject areas.   

Participate in dynamic discussions about contemporary art and hands-on art-making. No prior art experience is necessary. All materials are provided. Each teacher receives a flash drive with Heckscher Digital Education resources for classroom use.

Miami-Dade County Public School educators should register through the M-DCPS portal, and are eligible to receive Master Plan Points.  Educators that do not work for Miami-Dade Schools should email education@pamm.org to register for workshops.

Educator Workshops

Join PAMM staff for workshops especially designed for K-12 Educators. Together, we will explore ways to connect classroom curriculum with the art and artists of our time. These workshops include art-making, gallery discussions, and opportunities to share classroom strategies with colleagues. All materials are provided. M-DCPS educators receive 7 M-DCPS credits. PAMM Loves Teachers! - Educator Open House

Educators are welcomed to PAMM for a special evening designed just for them! Participants will explore the museum via tours, scavenger hunts and more, all while experiencing how much fun learning about modern and contemporary art can be! Hands-on activities and games will provide plenty of inspiration for engaging classroom activities that may be adapted for various grade-levels. Come and scope out what your class might see at the museum in this pre-fieldtrip “sneak peek”. Miami EdTech and P.S. 305 will also be sharing information and resources about how you can become involved in improving Miami's schools. Open to K-12 educators – all subject areas. (Open House - not available for M-DCPS Credit)

Immersive Learning and Contemporary Art

Step out of the classroom and into a new environment created with sound, light and the power of imagination. Explore with PAMM Educators the magic and mystery of creating a new world that will inspire both you and your students. Discuss how environment shapes learning with other educators and get tips on how to create low-tech, low-budget educational spaces and opportunities that invigorate learning. Open to K-12 educators – all subject areas.  Maximum Participants: 45

Low Tech + High Tech + Type Tech

Visit the Pérez Art Museum Miami Museum and a local artist’s studio in this special workshop that connects the museum experience with local artists in Miami. Learn how to connect technology across time - from typewriters to VR – and how artists utilize current and new media to give voice to their ideas. Take your new skills back to the classroom with exciting new projects and research ideas for your students. Open to K-12 educators – all subject areas.  Maximum Participants: 25

Teens as Teachers - Intergenerational Collaboration

In this special workshop teens and educators will work side by side to explore relevant topics to middle and high school aged students. This workshop designed and led by teens and PAMM Educators will offer teens and educators the opportunity to exchange ideas, engage in discussion and participate in hands-on experiences – all inspired by modern and contemporary art. Open to students in grades 9-12 and K-12 educators – all subject areas * Middle and High School Educators will be given preference.   Maximum Participants: 45

Steamy! Science, Art and Technology Mash-up

This workshop will explore the intersections of science, technology and art as tools to inspire students across subject areas. Join PAMM Educators as they engage participants in hands-on activities designed to show connections in how scientists, tech-innovators and artists approach problem solving and critical thinking in various fields of study and work. Learn new techniques to connect learning across a spectrum of topics to promote life-long learning in your classroom. Open to K-12 educators – all subject areas.   Maximum Participants: 25
