Join us digitally for our tour program, Local Views at PAMM, where select local artists will speak about their creative process and artistic practice. This week, Jenna Balfe will lead the tour, starting with an introduction to her community Bodymovement class and including detail of her new work titled Repatriating to the Earth.

Jenna Balfe is a multi-disciplinary artist and activist from Miami. In 2012, she began ongoing research through her community class Bodymovement, exploring the body’s relation to existential context, other bodies, and Earth. In 2011, she co-founded Nature Links for Lifelong Learning, a nonprofit that serves young adults with developmental delays. Balfe holds a Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy from Pratt University in Brooklyn, NY. She is a board member of the environmental activist group, The Urban Environmental League. In 2018, she was recognized by Oolite Arts for her project Transnaturism and awarded a grant to cultivate this work. It was shown at NADA Art Fair/2018 and Downtown Art Days through a grant provided by the Miami DDA in partnership with BFI in September 2019. Most recently, Balfe performed “The Length of Each other Despite Difference” at Performia at Edgezones Gallery in February 2020. Previous work has been featured at The Knockdown Center, Queens, NY; Bas Fisher Invitational, Miami; School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Faena Art Forum, Miami; Movement Research Inc., NYC, NY; Miami Art Museum; The Museum of Modern Art, Dominican Republic; Edge Zones, Miami; The Department of Reflection (Misael Soto); Mana Contemporary Miami/New Jersey. Balfe is a singer and co-founder of the postpunk/performance art group Donzii, who opened for New Order in January 2020.
