Join us for our in-gallery tour program, Local Views at PAMM, where select local artists will speak about a few works of art currently on view at the museum. This month, Marielle Plaisir will lead the tour.

Local Views at PAMM gives visitors a first-hand interaction with local artists by creating conversations centered around art and the creative process. This casual 30-minute conversation takes place on the last Thursday of each month.

About Marielle Plaisir

Marielle Plaisir is a French-Caribbean multimedia artist who combines painting, drawing, and performance to present intense visual experiences. Her work is a critique of the current “social atmosphere” in which she defines domination and discrimination as playing a primary role in the reproduction of dominating social relationships, which sits at the very heart of globalization. She engages in the deconstruction of those conditions and reconstructs a world in which no one dominates or reigns; instead, everyone moves freely between reality and imagination.

Plaisir earned a Master of Applied Arts (University of Bordeaux III, France) and a graduate degree in art and scenography (Honors Advanced School of Fine Arts and Decorative Arts of Bordeaux, France.) Plaisir has exhibited in international biennials including Sao Paulo, Dakar, Benin, Florence and Dublin and in various contemporary art museums in Europe and USA. She recently received a prestigious South Florida Cultural Consortium award and is a current resident at ArtCenter. She’s represented by DE BUCK Gallery (NY).
