New York-based painter David Reed will give a walk-through and talk on his current exhibition David Reed: Vice and Reflection – An Old Painting, New Paintings and Animations. He will discuss the production of the four new large, site-specific paintings he created for this project, which reference a painting he produced in 1984-1985, titled #212(Vice) that was influenced by the saturated colors used in the TV program Miami Vice. He will additionally highlight his unique working process which involves the production of elaborate Working Drawings and Color Studies that are also on view in the exhibition. After the talk, enjoy an ’80s-themed dance party on the terrace.

David Reed (b. 1946, San Diego) lives and works in New York. He studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Maine; Reed College, Portland, Oregon; and New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in Greenwich Village. Solo shows of his work have been presented at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Massachusetts; Museum Haus Lange, Kunstmuseen Krefeld, Germany; Peter Blum Gallery, New York; Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland; Wexner Center for the Arts, The Ohio State University, Columbus; and MoMA PS1, Long Island City. Significant group exhibitions have been presented at Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin; Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; Tate St Ives, United Kingdom; Minneapolis Institute of Art; Blanton Museum of Art, University of Texas at Austin; and Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo.
