Local Views: Josh Kline & Naomi Fisher in Conversation: Rethinking Art Infrastructure in an Age of Urgency

May 30, 2026
3:00 PM – 3:30 PM
At PAMM

Join us for a conversation around world-building in the context of global volatility, and the role of artists in shaping discourse inside institutions and outside them through artist-run projects. Are the conditions under which art gets made inseparable from the work itself? Moderated by Marie Vickles, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) senior director of education, Josh Kline and Naomi Fisher will discuss their experience working as artists and curators over the last three decades, and what it means to maintain a studio practice and make art in America in 2026.

Both artists have engaged these issues throughout their careers. Josh Kline is known for immersive installations that confront class, climate change, labor precarity, and dehumanization via emergent technologies. Kline currently has a solo exhibition at Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, and is an artist in residence at STPI, Singapore. Kline recently had major solo exhibitions at MOCA LA and The Whitney Museum, NY; and was included in the 24th Biennale of Sydney and the 8th Yokohama Triennial.

Naomi Fisher’s practice is rooted in feminist botanical knowledge and the ecosystems of South Florida; for two decades she has directed BFI, a W.A.G.E. Certified artist-run platform she co-founded in Miami in 2004. Fisher’s work has been exhibited at the Museo de Arte Zapopan, Mexico; L.A.N.D., Los Angeles; Wolfsonian Museum, Miami Beach; Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Kemper Museum, Kansas City; Kunsthalle Wein, Vienna; Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel, and elsewhere. Fisher currently has work on view in Shadows and Traces: Selections from PAMM’s Collection.
