(MIAMI, FL — July 8, 2026) — Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is pleased to present This Is America x PAMMTV, on view in the museum’s auditorium and online via PAMMTV from July 9, 2026 through July 7, 2027. Presented in conjunction with This Is America: Selections from PAMM’s Collection, the digital extension of the exhibition brings together time-based works from PAMM’s permanent collection that examine US politics, the Black American experience, and the role of artists in shaping the nation. Together, the exhibition considers how artists use voice, performance, and technology to engage with the United States’ evolution in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The exhibition foregrounds artists who have used video and time-based media to confront the structures that shape public life and cultural memory. Artists such as Howardena Pindell, Martine Syms, and Carrie Mae Weems illuminate the ongoing struggle for Black representation in history, media, and the art world. Rashid Johnson documents the collective anxiety and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, while also reflecting on the era’s racial injustices. Yucef Merhi serves as a final bridge, examining repetitive systems and the fatigue that can accompany the anticipation of change. In dialogue with the broader museum presentation, This Is America x PAMMTV expands the exhibition’s inquiry into national identity by emphasizing the moving image as a vital space for critique, remembrance, and public address.
Tying together the exhibition’s digital and physical elements, PAMM is also thrilled to include Alfredo Jaar’s A Logo for America—the original animation, on loan from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art—as a part of this exhibition. Installed on PAMM’s East Portico waterfront screen, we invite guests to experience the work outside and after the sun has set. Beginning July 9, anyone visiting the museum’s waterfront terrace will be able to view A Logo for America between 6:00-10:00pm. This gives Miami’s multicultural audiences the opportunity to experience milestone animation, originally presented in Times Square in 1987. PAMMTV is the museum’s digital platform for video art and time-based media, extending PAMM’s commitment to accessibility, experimentation, and new forms of artistic engagement beyond the gallery. Available both onsite and online, This Is America x PAMMTV invites audiences to encounter works from PAMM’s collection across physical and digital spaces.
