Bring the whole family for an afternoon of hands-on creativity and island inspiration! Discover the incredible ceramic artwork of Bahamian artist Anina Major, who takes the tradition of straw plaiting—a style of Bahamian palm-leaf weaving passed down through generations—and playfully reinvents it with clay to honor the knowledge, labor, and cultural memory embedded within this ancestral craft. Together, kids and grown-ups will explore how artists keep heritage alive, transform natural traditions into bold new forms, and find colorful ways to tell their own family stories.

Organization and Support
PAMM Free Second Saturdays are made possible with support from The Edward C. Fogg, III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust, PNC, the Miami Downtown Development Authority, Publix Super Market Charities, the Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation. Endowed funds granted by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Heckscher Foundation for Children underwrite the museum’s broad portfolio of education programs. Together with leadership support from Miami-Dade County, these funders enable the museum to transform the lives of young people in our community through our art education programs.
