Blog: Artist Simon Starling Discusses His Work at PAMM

In the first Scholl Lecture Series, artist Simon Starling speaks about his artistic process and, specifically, about his large-scale installation, Inverted Retrograde Theme, USA (House for a Songbird), 2002, that traces the paradoxes of modernist architecture in the Caribbean. The installation, which is part of PAMM's permanent collection was gifted to the museum by Dennis and Debra Scholl.

The Scholl Lecture series, named for a generous gift from Dennis and Debra Scholl, includes four annual talks by artists, scholars or curators that engage in meaningful conversation about work in PAMM’s collection and exhibitions. For upcoming lectures, visit PAMM's calendar or sign up for PAMM e-news.

Simon Starling, Inverted Retrograde Theme, USA (House for a Songbird), 2002 was on view at PAMM until September 14, 2014.
