Event Description
Join us for a tech-filled evening showcasing the best of Miami's emerging tech start-ups. In our auditorium, catch cutting-edge presentations on the different ways technology is transforming our community—including Felice Grodin: Invasive Species, our first-ever augmented reality (AR) exhibition made possible by the Knight Foundation. The evening will be emceed by Maria Derchi Russo, Executive Director of Refresh Miami.
In the galleries, delve into our interactive tech showcase featuring some of Miami’s biggest tech players including Code/Art Miami, Daruma Tech, Branger_Briz, Breeze Creative, Kairos, Ironhack, and 01. Also, enjoy a guided augmented reality tour through Museum Park with the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and meet our Museum Park neighbors, the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science.
Code/Art Miami is a non-profit organization founded in October 2015. Its mission is to increase the number of girls, in grades 4-12, studying computer science. The organization holds workshops that teach students how to write computer programs, generate art, and organize an annual event, where student computer generated art is displayed and awards are given for the top coded art submissions. The organization has reached more than 700 girls and founded two scholarships for young women studying computer animation at MDC's Miami Animation & Gaming Complex since its creation.
Daruma Tech has been providing IT development and consulting services since 2013. They’re programmers, IT specialists, creatives and marketing and business gurus who go to work every day with only one goal in mind – their clients. Thier innovative business model allows them to give clients the personal service and responsiveness of a small boutique firm and the speed, flexibility, and pricing of larger competitors. Daruma Tech’s mission is to empower business with the custom digital tools they need to stand tall in a competitive market and the know how they need to establish and achieve their goals. Whether they envision a custom mobile app, an interactive kiosk or a virtual reality experience, Daruma Tech has the experience and expertise. They have a full-time development and project management team at Florida Atlantic University’s Research Park at FAU and a development team located in Ahmedabad, India.
Ironhack is an international Coding School that believes the best way to learn how to do something, is by actually doing it. This ideology is reflected in its teaching practices, which consist of nine-week immersive programming courses aimed to graduate students as full-stack junior web developers. Ironhack has 6 locations in Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Mexico City, Miami and now Berlin.

Each month, they bring together hundreds of entrepreneurs and technology professionals to learn from industry pioneers and thoughts leaders. Founded in 2006, their mission is to educate, inspire, and grow South Florida's tech and startup ecosystem.
01 is an education lab that fosters agency and creative confidence in students by empowering them to shape their worlds through technology and play.
Felice Grodin: Invasive Species is a virtually interactive, digital exhibition of commissioned works by Miami-based artist Felice Grodin. The series employs the immersive technology of augmented reality (AR), and is accessible to visitors using iOS devices in PAMM’s outdoor areas and in the Padma and Raj Vattikuti Learning Theater on the museum’s first floor. This AR project is made possible thanks to a generous grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
