Burn Out Sun consists of vinyl discs produced by Sun Records, the legendary Memphis studio where many influential musicians of the 1950s and early 1960s, including Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley, first recorded their music. The records come together to form an icosahedron, a shape made famous by the visionary architect Buckminster Fuller's invention of the geodesic dome.¶¶Sean Duffy works with intrinsically nostalgic materials, such as vinyl records, turntables, and classic cars. Such objects bear the unmistakable stamp of the era in which they were commonly produced and used; conversely, they help determine the ways in which those eras are visualized and remembered.¶¶
