Inspired by Doris Salcedo, IlluminArts presents David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize winning piece “the little match girl passion,” directed by R. B. Schlather. The staging will be created in the PAMM Auditorium as a live event over one week with rehearsals open to museum visitors. The culminating performance will feature an all-star cast led by soprano Anne Carolyn Bird.

lluminArts is Miami’s Art Song and Vocal Chamber Music Series, collaborating with museums and galleries to present programs of music that are inspired by the visual art in the space. Founded in 2013, IlluminArts has collaborated with the Bass Museum of Art, the Bakehouse Art Complex, the Miami Center for Architecture and Design, MDC Museum of Art and Design, Musimelange at the M Building in Wynwood, and Ted’s at the National YoungArts Foundation, and has highlighted the work of visual artists such as El Anatsui, Steven and William Ladd, Mira Lehr, and Pablo Cano. They have presented outstanding musicians in concert, including tenor David Portillo, pianist and composer John Musto, tenor Michael Slattery, and soprano Amy Burton, and many more.
