In conjunction with her PAMM exhibition, Bloodlines, Firelei Báez will discuss her work with PAMM Assistant Curator María Elena Ortiz. Bloodlines explores issues of black culture, Afro-Caribbean folklore and the complexities of diasporic experiences. After the talk, enjoy a live performance by string duo Chargaux, featuring opening and closing sets by DJ Kumi, presented by Rhythm Foundation. 

About the artist
Firelei Báez (b. 1981, Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic) studied at The Cooper Union for Advancement of Science and Art and Hunter College, both in New York. Recent solo and group exhibitions include: Prospect 3.:Notes for Now, New Orleans (2014); Small, The Drawing Center, New York (2014), New York; Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, Pérez Art Museum Miami (2014); Firelei Báez: Fine Arts Work Center Solo Exhibition, Hudson D. Báez was awarded the Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Award in 2010 and The Jaque and Natasha Gelman Award for Painting in 2004. She is the recipient of the 2015 Catherine Doctorow Prize for Contemporary Painting. She lives and works in New York.
