In conjunction with his midcareer retrospective exhibition opening at PAMM, artist Nari Ward and Associate Curator Diana Nawi will deliver a eulogy for artworks that have been destroyed over the course of Ward’s 20-year practice. This performative talk is a meditation on labor, leisure and remembering.
About the artist
Nari Ward (b. 1963, Saint Andrew, Jamaica) is known for his dramatic sculptural installations made from objects he collects from the urban landscape. His work examines ideas of place, identity, political power, and migration. Ward has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia; Louisiana State University Museum of Art, Baton Rouge; Fabric Workshop and Museum, Philadelphia; Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams; Palazzo delle Papesse Centro Arte Contemporanea, Siena, Italy; Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston; and Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, among others. The artist lives and works in New York.
