Join PAMM Assistant Curator Maritza Lacayo for a studio tour and wine reception with artist Jason Seife, whose first solo exhibition in the United States will open at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) in May 2023.
About Jason Seife Jason Seife, born and raised in Miami, is the son of immigrants, particularly of Cuban and Syrian descent. His practice centers on his Middle Eastern heritage, referencing Persian carpets and the intricate details found in mosques and other forms of Islamic art. He digitally designs his own carpet-inspired compositions, mirroring weavers’ practice of associating patterns or colors with specific locations and communities. Seife subsequently hand-paints these intricate patterns onto a concrete slab or canvas.
