PAMM Art Storytime: Hearts, Spirits, and Home

May 23, 2026
11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
At PAMM

Step into a world of magic and memory as we discover the vibrant work of Haitian American, PAMM collection artist Kathia St. Hilaire. Together, we will explore her beautiful artwork Marassa Twins, a colorful scene inspired by the artist’s own childhood home right here in South Florida. Set in a lush, tropical garden where children play, this piece invites families to look closely at the symbols that keep us safe and connected to our history.

As we dive into the story, we’ll meet the Marassa Twins—a three-headed spirit known as a powerful protector of children—watching over the garden from above. We will also spot beautiful white staffs adorned with hearts, representing Erzulie Dantor, a motherly figure who looks after the young and the marginalized.

This engaging session is a wonderful way for families to talk about identity, community, and the special figures who protect us, all through the lens of Hilaire’s rich Caribbean and African American heritage.
