About Paperwater
Paperwater is a Miami-based electronic duo composed of Daygee Kwia and Eddy Samy, creating a captivating blend of Afro, tech, and deep house. Paperwater’s productions are equal parts hypnotic groove and emotional depth—fusing Caribbean and African diasporic rhythms with progressive electronic textures. Their DJ sets are immersive experiences that blur the lines between live performance and sonic storytelling, with genre-defying sound and boundary-pushing aesthetics meeting at the intersection of global club culture, fashion, and art.
The duo met while in high school on the football team. Kwia was already producing and joined the hip-hop band After the Smoke in College at FAMU. Samy learned production through Kwia after college and began to develop his songwriting and vocal skills.
Paperwater released its first single in 2017 and began playing shows shortly after with acts such as Snakehips and Sango. Their most notable performances include openings for Flying Lotus, Mura Masa, Sohn, Lido, Virgil Abloh, and festival slots at Middlelands, III Points, and EDC. The duo’s production gradually developed a sound with the introduction of the Moog and vocal samples. The sound is a mix of electronic and hip-hop with hints of indie.
