Spend your Thursday nights at Pérez Art Museum Miami! This week, join us for a screening of “Unicorns” (2023), a cross-cultural romance about a single father from Essex who works as a mechanic and a British Indian drag queen living a double life. When their paths collide, an emotional search for identity is sparked.

Before the film, join local artist Thom Wheeler Castillo for a Pride tour highlighting LGBTQ+ artists on view. The tour will feature works by artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Zanele Muholi, found in PAMM’s permanent collection and Language and Image: Conceptual and Performance-Based Photography from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection.

About “Unicorns” (2023) 
Luke (Ben Hardy), a young single dad and mechanic, keeps his head down—working long hours, raising his spirited five-year-old, and blowing off steam through fleeting Tinder hookups. One night, he wanders into an underground British Asian club in East London and meets Aysha (Jason Patel)—magnetic, flirty, and impossible to ignore. Their chemistry sparks instantly… until Luke learns Aysha is the drag persona of Ashiq, a closeted man hiding his sexuality from his traditional Muslim family. 

When Aysha shows up at Luke’s garage offering cash for rides to her shows, Luke agrees—and an unlikely friendship begins. As they spend more time together, lines blur, attraction deepens, and both are forced to confront their identities, desires, and the rules they’ve lived by. 

Co-directed by BAFTA nominee Sally El Hosaini (The Swimmers) and BIFA winner James Krishna Floyd, Unicorns is a tender, electric love story about chance encounters, chosen love, and the courage to be truly seen.

The Pride tour was developed by Miami-based artist and PAMM guide Thom Wheeler Castillo and currently features permanent collection and special exhibition artists including Carlos Alfonzo, Deborah Kass, Glenn Ligon, Zanele Muholi, and Robert Rauschenberg. Pride tours occur twice weekly and are scheduled for Thursdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 3pm.
