New York-based painter David Reed’s paintings are inspired by the colors and drama of Miami Vice. In celebration of this spectacular influence, join us for an ’80s-themed extravaganza on the waterfront terrace. Enjoy music by Lolo and a live set of ‘80s covers by The State Of, an ‘80s-themed lip sync booth, giveaways and activities, happy hour drink specials, art-making, and more. Wear ’80s attire for free admission.

Inside the museum, Reed will discuss his exhibition Vice and Reflection – An Old Painting, New Paintings and Animations, the production of the four new large, site-specific paintings he created for this project, which reference a painting he produced in 1984-1985, titled #212(Vice) that was influenced by the saturated colors used in the TV program Miami Vice.

About Lauren “Lolo” Reskin
Lauren “Lolo” Reskin has been a DJ and promoter for over a 15 years, and is undeniably one of the architects of the modern indie music scene in South Florida. From her first gig at age 17, she has gone on to help create, promote or DJ at legendary South Florida club nights such as Revolver, VICE, Plastik Fantastik, Roll Out, Circa Saturdays, Poplife, and Fridays at The Vagabond. Since 2003 Lolo has also thrown the Annual ‘80s Prom, a Thanksgiving Eve tradition in Miami.

In 2005 she opened her own independent music store and event space, Sweat Records, which has gone on to become an institution in its own right. As a DJ, Lolo’s sets are meticulously custom-crafted from her massive music collection for each event – a poolside set will include lounge classics and breezy chill-out tunes; a late-night electro and indie rock set will have the hits and classics guaranteed to keep the dance floor moving. She currently has a popular monthly party at The Anderson called Popchart, and DJs special events around Miami and the world.

About The State Of
The State Of is the product of Steph Taylor’s 80’s influenced piano/synth playing and Nabedi Osorio’s electronic-like live drumming. Their dark pop sensibility is born out of their hometown of Miami, FL. Their songs are a juxtaposition of dark and light, playing music that is melancholy and minor but to a fun and danceable beat. When coupled, they create a dynamic sound larger than what’s expected out of two people.
