How much does a tour cost?
The Knight School Tours Program is free. Students, teachers, and chaperones receive free admission during their visit.
When are tours offered?
Tours are offered on most Thursdays and Fridays during the school year. To see the most up-to-date schedule, explore the request calendar.
What will my students see and do during their visit?
Students will tour three highlights from our permanent collection and special exhibitions. We prioritize creating student-centered learning opportunities that emphasize depth of engagement over breadth. During the tour, Teaching Artists lead students in inquiry-based discussion and hands-on activities. If you have a particular focus in mind or would like us to make connections to your classroom content, please include that information when requesting your tour. It is not possible to see all galleries and exhibitions during a field trip. We invite students, teachers, and chaperones to visit the museum on their own to enjoy all that PAMM has to offer. Knight Schools Tour Program participants will receive a Family Pass at the end of their visit, granting them and their families free entrance during a future visit
Can I request a field trip without a guided tour?
If you are requesting a field trip for a high school group, you can request a self-guided option on the calendar.
Is transportation included?
All M-DCPS schools are eligible for free transportation. Unfortunately, we cannot provide transportation for private schools, home schools, or schools outside of the county.
What bus company do you use for transportation?
We contract private vendors that are approved for us by the M-DCPS Department of Transportation.
How many chaperones are required for a school tour?
We ask that you bring 1 chaperone for every 10-15 students. Depending on your group size, we will work with you to accommodate additional chaperones. In order to receive free admission, the number of chaperones must be communicated and approved by PAMM beforehand.
What is the cost for chaperones?
Chaperones are free when accompanying a school tour. Chaperones must stay with the group at all times as they tour the museum.
Is there somewhere to have lunch?
Yes! Your students are welcome to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy on our waterfront terrace before or after your tour. Please make sure to let us know if you plan on having lunch when you complete the booking form so we can be sure to accommodate your group.rnrnPlease note that we do not coordinate on site lunch options for school groups. If you are interested in dining with our restaurant partner, Verde, please reach out to them directly to make arrangements.
Can you hold our lunches for us while we tour?
Yes! We can store your school’s lunches while you tour the museum. We will bring them out for you when you are ready to eat lunch.
Is there anything my students should bring?
Sweaters, an open-mind and questions!
Is there anything my students shouldn’t bring?
Backpacks, large purses, lunchboxes, water bottles, and video game devices will need to be checked in for the duration of your tour.
Can we visit the galleries on our own after the tour?
School groups will not receive wristbands for re-entry after the conclusion of their tour. rnrnIf you are a high school teacher and would like to schedule additional time to visit the galleries after the tour, request a self-guided visit to coincide with the end of your guided tour. Unfortunetly, this option is not availible for the k-8 groups.
Knight School Programs have been made possible by endowed funds granted by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Heckscher Foundation for Children, and The Edward C. Fogg, III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust to underwrite the museum’s broad portfolio of education programs. Together with leadership support from Miami-Dade County, these funders enable the museum to transform the lives of young people in our community through our art education programs.
