Virtual School Tours • Pérez Art Museum Miami

Join PAMM’s Teaching Artists in exploring contemporary art and artists through PAMM in Your Classroom. This experience allows K-12 teachers and students to connect with the museum virtually. Teachers can choose to participate in two interactive sessions: Let’s Talk About Art and Let’s Make Art.

Let’s Talk About Art: Your students will participate in an inquiry-based exploration of contemporary art alongside our Teaching Artists. This session creates the opportunity for an engaging conversation accompanied by a dynamic slideshow presentation centered around an artwork from our collection.
Let’s Make Art: Your students will make art inspired by an artwork from our collection. In this art-making activity, they will build on the concepts and insights that emerge in Let’s Talk About Art. This session is designed as a follow-up experience. PAMM will provide the necessary supplies in the form of an art kit.

How much does a tour cost?

PAMM in Your Classroom is free. Teachers seeking to schedule a session must schedule a PAMM in Your Classroom tour at least 1 week in advance in order to ensure coordination and staffing. You can schedule a tour using our online form found here.

What platform is needed to participate in a PAMM in Your Classroom virtual tour?

PAMM in Your Classroom sessions are conducted via Zoom. You may elect to join together using a teacher Zoom account or have individual students join on their own Zoom accounts.rnrnYou will receive a Zoom meeting session ID and password along with your confirmation documents.

I want my students to join the session themselves. How do I make that happen?

If all of your students have access to a computer, they may join the Zoom session individually. Please share the Zoom meeting ID and password in advance. You can write this information on the board or share the link directly through software like Microsoft Teams or to students’ emails. The meeting will not become active prior to the scheduled time and date.

My students don’t have Zoom accounts or I do not wish that they join on their own. What can I do?

If students are not able to join the session individually, you may choose to use your classroom computer to display the session to the whole class through your smart board or projector. Please ensure all components of the webcam, microphone, and speaker are connected. Position the webcam so that all (or most) students are visible. If you are able to, run a test Zoom session with a colleague to ensure that all your components are working. Sometimes it can be difficult for a microphone to pick up the voice of a student at the back of the room. If this is the case, our Teaching Artists will request your assistance with facilitating student participation. Teaching Artists will often ask students to approach the classroom computer to answer a question. It may be helpful to review these expectations with students prior to the session.

Tell me more about the materials my students will receive!

PAMM is proud to provide free materials in the form of an Art Kit to participating schools in our delivery range. The PAMM Art Kits are specially designed to contain the materials necessary for the second virtual session, Let’s Make Art, in which Teaching Artists lead students in an art-making activity. We strongly encourage you to sign your students up for this follow-up experience if you haven’t already. Visit our booking calendar to reserve your space. These Art Kits also contain materials that will be helpful for your students during the first session, Let’s Talk About Art. Please hand these out to your students in preparation for their session. If you are participating in Let’s Make Art, we strongly encourage that you collect the kits after this initial session and store them in your classroom. This will ensure that all students have access to the necessary materials in the kits for the art-making activity.

Do I have to sign up for both sessions?

We strongly recommend that you sign your students up for both Let’s Talk About Art and Let’s Make Art. However, it is not strictly mandatory. Let’s Make Art is designed as a follow-up session and should only be reserved if students are scheduled to participate or have participated in Let’s Talk About Art.
