Featuring Woody De Othello: coming forth by day, PAMM Presents: Art Bashment, Art Talk Between Jorge Pérez, Franklin Sirmans, Aldeide Delgado & Anastasia Samoylova, and more.

PAMM Presents 2024. (MIAMI, FL — November 25, 2025) — Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is pleased to announce its lineup of programs and events for Miami Art Week 2025, anchored by Woody De Othello: coming forth by day and the museum’s signature Thursday-night Art Week celebration, PAMM Presents. Additional highlights include an in-depth conversation on art, legacy, and community between Jorge Pérez, Franklin Sirmans, Aldeide Delgado, and Anastasia Samoylova, as well as the launch of ECOLOGIES, a series of public programming, performances, and private convenings developed in partnership between the Knight Foundation, New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA), CULTURED, Cultural Counsel, and PAMM. Together, these programs underscore PAMM’s commitment to Miami’s diverse audiences and to art as a catalyst for critical reflection, joy, and connection.
Throughout Art Week, visitors can experience Woody De Othello: coming forth by day, the Miami-born artist’s first solo museum exhibition in his hometown. Presenting a new series of ceramic and wood sculptures, tiled wall-works, and a large-scale bronze, the immersive installation explores the primordial relationship between body, earth, and spirit. Grounding natural materials, such as clay-painted walls and subtle herbal scents, create an environment in which Othello’s anthropomorphic sculptures appear to lean, rest, or embrace, as if shaped by memory and emotion. Rooted in precolonial and diasporic African traditions, and drawing from spiritual practices, hermetic philosophy, and cultural artifacts including nkisi power figures, Dogon ritual objects, and Egyptian pyramids, Othello’s work considers how objects carry history, absorb meaning, and serve as vessels for spiritual and emotional experience.

PAMM’s opening hours throughout the week will be extended to accommodate visitors attending programs, events, and visiting the museum’s current exhibitions. In addition to Woody De Othello: coming forth by day, exhibitions on view include Elliot & Erick Jiménez: El Monte, the twin photography duo’s inaugural institutional exhibition, drawing from Afro-Cuban spirituality, and Shadows and Traces: Selections from PAMM’s Collection, a presentation of photographs and prints by women artists from the museum’s collection, reflecting on memory and the subtle imprints left by lived experience.
Also on view is Language and Image: Conceptual and Performance-Based Photography from the Jorge M. Pérez Collection; Mark Dion: The South Florida Wildlife Rescue Unit; Worlds Apart; One Becomes Many; Fragments of Time: Selections from PAMM’s Collection; Cecilia Vicuña: Quipu Gut; and Carlos Cruz-Diez: Chromosaturation, as well as Beyond Representation in the Auditorium and on PAMMTV, the museum’s one-of-a-kind streaming platform.

ALL WEEK
Elliot & Erick Jiménez: El Monte
On view through March 22, 2026
Elliot & Erick Jiménez: El Monte is the first solo museum exhibition by identical twin photographers Elliot and Erick Jiménez. The new body of work is informed by the Afro-Caribbean spiritual tradition of Lucumí and by Lydia Cabrera’s foundational 1954 study El Monte, which examines Afro-Cuban religious practices. The exhibition foregrounds the artists’ bicultural experience as Cuban-Americans. Surrounding photographs and sculptural elements address the twins’ shared identity and recast familiar art historical compositions through the lens of Lucumí, prompting reflection on colonialism, devotion, and self-representation.
Supporting sponsorship from Goya Foods. Additional support from María C. Bechily and Scott Hodes, CINTAS Foundation, Clara and Juan Toro, Basil Chidi Funk, Chris and Suzanne Armstrong, Andres Gil, Celso Gonzalez-Falla, ArtesMiami, Aida Levitan, and Marijean and Rafael Miyar is gratefully acknowledged.
Woody De Othello: coming forth by day
On view through June 28, 2026
Miami-born artist Woody De Othello presents coming forth by day, a new series of ceramic and wood sculptures, tiled wall-works, and a large-scale bronze that explore the primordial relationship between body, earth, and spirit. The immersive installation features grounding natural materials such as clay-painted walls and subtle herbal scents.
Rooted in precolonial and diasporic African traditions, Othello draws inspiration from spiritual practices, hermetic philosophy, and cultural artifacts—including nkisi power figures, Dogon ritual objects, and Egyptian pyramids. His anthropomorphic sculptures, with their richly glazed surfaces, suggest a quiet vitality—the forms appear to lean, rest, or embrace, as if shaped by the weight of memory and emotion. Known for his hand-built ceramics, Othello animates everyday objects—clocks, mirrors, phones, vessels—blurring the line between body and object and revealing the unseen forces that shape our daily lives. As Othello’s first solo museum exhibition in Miami, coming forth by day reflects his deep connection to the city and his ongoing exploration of his ancestral heritage.
The exhibition is presented with lead support from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and supporting sponsorship from Simi Ahuja and Kumar Mahadeva, and Goldman Sachs. Additional support from Wagner Foundation, Leslie and Greg Ferrero, and Rona and Jeff Citrin is gratefully acknowledged.
Beyond Representation
On view through November 9, 2026
Beyond Representation on PAMMTV is a three-part exhibition that surveys the contributions of Caribbean artists to video performance from the mid-1980s to the present. Featuring an intergenerational group of artists from the Caribbean and its diaspora, the project examines how performance is used to address social, cultural, and political conditions in the region and beyond.
The current installment focuses on works staged in public spaces, often in the form of “guerrilla” performances. Including pieces by David Pérez Karmadavis, Miguel Braceli, Tania Bruguera, Ada Maricia Patterson, nibia pastrana santiago, and Zachary Fabri, this edition foregrounds the body as a site of confrontation and care.
Beyond Representation is on display in PAMM’s Auditorium and on view for global online audiences via PAMMTV.
