(MIAMI, FL — November 20, 2023) — Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is pleased to announce George Clinton as the headliner for PAMM Presents, the museum’s signature art week party taking place on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 8–11pm. The highly-anticipated event welcomes guests from around the world for an evening of exhibition viewing, live music, and dancing.

PAMM Presents draws in nearly 5,000 guests annually to celebrate the museum as a collecting institution with an ongoing commitment to diversity, presenting art from Latin America, the U.S. Latinx experience, the Caribbean, and the African diaspora.

This year will feature a special performance from George Clinton, a musician, singer, bandleader, and record producer most known for his collective, Parliament-Funkadelic, which developed an influential and eclectic genre of funk music during the 1970s. Clinton is also a visual artist and will have an exhibition of 15 paintings on view at Jupiter Contemporary from November 30, 2023–December 31, 2024. A selection of work will also be on view at Jeffrey Deitch’s booth at Art Basel.

“Clinton’s visual artwork is a mix of funkadelic mythologies and utopian fantasies,” said Spring McManus, an art advisor who manages Clinton’s visual art practice. “As a founder of the Afrofuturist movement, Clinton inspired some of contemporary arts’ leading figures today.”

In addition to George Clinton’s headlining performance, the evening will also feature live DJ sets. From 8–10pm, DJ DLuxe—known for her craft blending genres from house, funk, jazz, disco, soul, world music, and more—will perform an opening set. Born in Seville Spain, and raised in Chicago before spending 12 years in Barbados, DLuxe is now based in Miami. Her music reflects her eclectic and international experience, and she exudes an aura of sophistication and elegance that sets her apart as a tastemaker. Starting at 10:45pm, CHARLIE SOUL CLAP, the principal songwriter of musical duo Soul Clap, will perform a closing set. With over 20 years of experience as a musician, Charlie is best known for thematic dance music that is both eclectic, unexpected, and contemporary.

Throughout the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to view the museum’s current exhibitions, which will include the newly opened Gary Simmons: Public Enemy presented by Citi, the most in-depth presentation of Simmons’s work to date, covering 30 years of the artist’s career and encompassing 75 sculptures, paintings, works on paper, and installations, as well as a number of large-scale wall drawings the artist will create on site. Additional exhibitions include Joan Didion: What She Means, an exhibition curated by acclaimed writer Hilton Als featuring nearly fifty artists including Betye Saar, Vija Celmins, and Felix Gonzalez-Torres; Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich: Too Bright to See, an experimental film installation focusing on the artist’s extensive research of the overlooked female writer and activist Suzanne Roussi-Césaire; Marcela Cantuária: The South American Dream, the artist’s first solo exhibition featuring all newly commissioned painting works; and Jason Seife: Coming to Fruition, featuring all new site-specific works including a custom wallpaper, triptychs, and a large-scale canvas.
