Hello, I'm Amelia Letson, and this is my take on the final week of the 2020 PTAC Summer Internship.
Our 2020 PTAC Summer Internship is coming to a close after only five weeks and I now find myself entering my final year of high school. As I begin my final year of PTAC, I have a better understanding of how our museum functions and how I can be a more effective part of the institution.
I have learned much from my summer internship. One of the most important things I learned was how to communicate more effectively. As an intern, I wrote and recorded a museum tour, created and delivered a presentation, and spoke in front of the entire museum staff. These experiences taught me the importance of knowing and understanding your audience. One of my internship projects involved creating an online presentation about the PAMM Teen Arts Council (PTAC) program. After receiving feedback from my peers, I created two additional presentations. One of them explained PTAC on the PAMM website. The other is a visual presentation for the general community that allows the presenter to expound on the PTAC program using more images than text. The presentations are adaptable to different situations.
As interns, we have been able to dive deep into the inner workings of the PAMM. We have a better understanding of the immense decision-making process required at the museum, which will better equip us to plan events and serve as PAMM teen ambassadors. In addition, PTAC has now dipped its toe into the PAMM digital universe by offering content on the PAMM app. We hope that this will pave the way for more content creation in PAMM’s digital space.
