Professional Learning at PAMM: Our America

March 10, 2027
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
At PAMM

In this professional learning workshop inspired by Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) exhibition This Is America: Selections from PAMM’s Collection, explore how visual art can serve as an investigative tool and entry point for exploring American history and themes of identity, patriotism, immigration, and other contemporary issues.

This workshop aims to lay a foundation for educators to implement object-based curriculum into their art classrooms through exhibition-specific exercises. In part one, PAMM teaching artists will lead educators in dialogue using strategies that support visual literacy, critical thinking and inference-making, and creating personal connections to art objects. Educators will learn how to use contemporary art objects as entry points for interdisciplinary learning that blends visual arts, civics, and history. In part two, artists will lead educators in a hands-on artmaking opportunity that challenges educators to consider the contours of their own “American” experiences.

All K-12 educators, including teachers and paraprofessionals, museum professionals, and other informal educators are welcome to attend. Light breakfast, lunch, and free parking will be provided for all participants. For updates to any workshop details, please check pamm.org/events.
