Como Semillas en el Viento

Commissioned by PAMM, Como Semillas en el Viento is an augmented reality sculpture by Alfredo Salazar-Caro that combines 3D-scanned artifacts from the Mexica pantheon with surreal 3D-scanned portraits of immigrant workers from Central and South America. Featuring a poetry soundtrack inspired by each individual in the work, Como Semillas en el Viento serves as an homage to their stories, their lives, and their contributions to society.

Through mixed reality portraiture Salazar-Caro invites audiences to reflect on the humanity of groups who are often forced to hide in the shadows of society. Opening on October 18, 2024, Como Semillas en el Viento is accessible to global audiences free of cost via PAMM’s online gallery for augmented reality artworks, New Realities. To interact with Como Semillas en el Viento, audiences anywhere can open ar.pamm.org and tap the screen to interact. Closed captions are available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
