In this professional learning workshop inspired by art in Pérez Art Museum Miami’s (PAMM) Permanent Collection and PAMMTV, educators will learn how to implement strategies that support visual literacy, critical thinking, and community building.
In part one, educators will engage in inquiry-driven dialogue to explore artworks as catalysts for reflection about ourselves, our communities, and the broader world. Through these guided conversations, gallery tours, and subsequent creative exercises, we’ll consider the power of visual art as a vehicle to interrogate our contexts and provide the blueprints of more equitable and healed futures.
In this part two, educators will engage in hands-on artmaking to collaboratively create a deck of cards using relief printing. Each participant will carve a simple word or symbol that represents voice, creativity, belonging, imagination, or action. Together, these individual prints become a collective card game designed to spark conversation, reflection, and creative problem-solving. The process emphasizes how art can amplify voices, build community, and transform shared spaces.
All K-12 educators, including teachers and paraprofessionals, museum professionals, and other informal educators are welcome to attend.
